Want a good Revolver

I am looking for a good revolver with a reasonable price possibly used. I am leaning more towards calibers in the range of .22 .38 somewhere in that area..prefer .22LR. Can anyone suggest a good one. PLEASE don't post anything with the word semi in the thread. I already have semiautos I want a revolver.

Lot's of good choices out there; but we need to know the primary
use of the weapon before making suggestions? Some revolvers can
function fine as home D' weapons; while others shine brightly on the
target range. One that comes to mind that can "fill the bill" in both
instances is the Smith & Wesson model 10; with barrel lengths from
2" to 6". Some can be had for as little as $150-200. My $0.02 worth.

Best Wishes,

I lean to the M66 from S&W. I like 6" barrels myself. Stainless can be buffed to look like new, 6 shots, 38 Special, +P and 357 Magnum ammunition, adjustable sights, enough weight to control recoil and barrel choices, round or square butt grip styles. I like the S&W K frame 357 Magnums. The M19 is the same revolver and it can be had in blue or nickel. My own choices are M65 4" and M19 6".

As in semi's, quality comes from a quality company. Look for the big three, Smith&Wesson, Colt, Ruger. Also, look at the internet gun auctions. You'll see lots of models you may not be able to find at your local store. You can usually go to "revolvers", then type in the caliber you want, then see all they have. Good luck.

It would be awfully hard to fault the purchase of a Smith & Wesson K-22 or Model 17. Since you prefer a .22 LR, and since the S&W's are superbly accurate, you would be well-served by one. I have owned at least one since 1965, and I currently have a Model 17, a K-22, a Model 63, and a Ruger Single Six Convertible. If I could have only one, it would be a 6" K-frame. Take a look at this one on Gunbroker as an example. You can often find one with a little more wear for a hundred dollars less.

Good luck!

I own several 22 revolvers and prefer the 9 shot swingouts for plinking such as a high standard sentinal, and yes a S&W is a fine weapon at 3 times the price,I own some of those too,the break top H&r 999's are fun also but the newer ones are a bit ruff.Single action 6 shooters are to slow to load.

WaltherP22ASSN,

I have to go with the Smith movement on this one. The K-22 is a hard revolver to beat in .22LR. I carried one from age 7 to 12, and kept my canned goods unopened during camping trips with it.

Although a good 9 shot top break H&R revolver is loads of fun to plink with. :)

Good luck.

I'd go with a 'pre-agreement' S&W as well, but I'd look for a Model 19 before the prices get crazy. Several people have shopped around/got lucky and found these right at $300 in great shape. I'm one. Patience is a virtue, and there are other models that are good deals as well, like the M28, 66, 65, and 686. The .357's can shoot .38 spl just fine, and these guns can be great deals.

JMO.
