Any one experience a FTE/FTF a WW II Walther PP?

I put a new slide spring in and tried a new magazine but still have the same problem.

Cycles with single round.

PP follow up

Firing a 1939 Walther PP 32 acp.

Using original magazine as well as an after market magazine, the slide fails to eject the first fired round. It appears the slide does not retract far enough.

Obviously, it cannot feed the subsequent round in the magazine due to the presence of the shell casing that remains in chamber.

Ammo being used is Winchester 71gr FMJ.

I replaced the slide spring with a new Wolff spring but same did not effect the problem.

Manually operating the slide with a loaded magazine the gun functions normally.

Anyone have an idea?

Two possibilities: One, the ejector is worn. Might work OK manually (slow), but not when fired (rapid). Two, there is some roughness in the chamber that holds up the case just enough to allow the ejector to pull off the case.

Stop!
Think about this for a moment. The slide is not fully stroking and the one thing that governs that is the spring you just replaced. See if there are lighter springs or try heavier bullets before you go making any major modifications.
Yes, clean the weapon and lubricate it properly and then see if a heavier bullet will make it function properly. If it does then you know that everything in the gun is working but the spring is to heavy for the lighter ammo. Select a spring that is 2 pounds lighter and try it.
