Walther TPH - Production Stopped?

Anonme know where I can get an American Walther TPH? Can't find then anymore.
Discontinued?

I call S&W and got the run-around. Who makes them? Are they being re-designed?

Thanks,
Hann

I've seen some in the local shops. One pawn sop had a NIB one for $350. If you're interested I'll post the contact information.

So many pistols, so little money.

I've been advised, by Earl Sheehan Jr. [waltherusa@mediaone.net], that the American TPH has been discontinued with no plans for any resumption in production. Also that there are no parts available and the parts for the European version are not necessairly compatable.

So, if you have one that is down, it probably means a trip to a smith who is also a good machinist.

Bachman Pawn & Gun in Dallas has them on closeout. S&W took over Walther distribution from Interarms. I wonder how the agreement effected the Walther line?

The PPK/E is an FEG, Hungarian made clone of the PPK. Walther sold the rights to stamp the FEG with Walther PPK/E -- E is for Europe.
Just bought two Walthers from Earl's, fine pieces: a Germany PPK in 7.65 and a last edition PP.
I would avoid the American TPH, but one could get lucky and find one that functions.

Hann,

Sincerely no offense intended, but weren't you the one who posted about the Sig 230 being too big, too underpowered and outdated? And now looking for a TPH in .25? Again, nice choice, the TPH is a nice little gun, but maybe a Seecamp would fit the bill here? Very high quality, very reliable, and esteemed pistol in .32 that's roughly the same size.

Pilate:

I sold my American .22 TPH about 4 years ago because of reliability issues. I was hoping they fixed the problems since then. I wouldn’t purchase a TPH in .25 ACP, it would be a .22. You don't give up much in terms of stopping power and ammo is a lot cheaper.

I posted this topic, because I was considering one for my wife, she likes the Walther looks and she won't even consider carry anything larger than a .22, and to my knowledge, the American TPH was manufactured in the USA, Alabama? It is a non-issue, because it's been discontinued.

I guess I have to look at American made alternatives for my wife and she doesn’t like the bulk of revolvers. Any suggestions other than S&W?

Regards,
Hann

Assuming you want to stay with the .22 and American made, I'd say it's going to be tough to find something appropriate... What with the uniquely American mindset that bigger (caliber) is better... NAA Mini Revolver? All I think of other than that in TPH size are the West Coast manufacturers which I don't recommend you give to your wife... Now that I think about it, aren't the mini Berettas made here? I would think the same restrictions that make Walther build their minis here also apply to Beretta... Seecamp still gets my vote...

Its not a big loss that the TPH has been discontinued, they were never reliable, even though they are very pretty little guns.

The TPH is my favorite of all. There is one for sale currently in the local gun shop.

CharlesSteele@ce.net is the gun dealer. They are no longer made. There are no parts.

The one for sale belonged to my son. He and I each still have two each! We love them. They are the best but NOT perfect. The one for sale works fine!

Take care,
Jody
