Walther SP22-M2 : need advice

I am not sure Walther supports the SP-22 anymore-certainly do not sell it.

My experience, from when I almost bought one:

Sights aren't great.
The aluminum finish isn't slick, so a cleaning cloth will leave fuzzies behind.
No one knows what the SP-22 is and confuse it with P22.

It should have gotten more love due to the modularity and people reporting good accuracy...but it didn't. CDNN blew these out for $200 with multiple grips (there are 4 counting the M4 felt like wood) and accessories like lazers, sights, weights, rails, etc.

If I were to pick one up, I would go for the M3 over the M2. The M3 has trigger adjustment, the M2 does not.

No. The SP22 was not known as a reliable gun. It was a cheaply-constructed pistol that was manufactured by Umarex. According to some over at Waltherforums.com, is was discontinued as warranty work made the line unprofitable.

As mentioned above, various retailers were blowing these out for around $200 about 5 years ago (and it took a long time to do so).

And it should be mentioned that in the ensuing 5 years, Walther stopped using Smith & Wesson as their U.S. distributor, and started their own distribution operation.

When foreign gunmakers change distributors, it's often the case that the new operation won't service products sold under the old regime, particularly if the product in question is problematic and/or unpopular—and the SP-22 was reportedly both.

Indeed. Green Lantern, I strongly suggest that you call Walther Arms and find out for sure.
