I have seen an ad for PP's in .32 in VG condition.
1. From SOG or another dealer, are they reputible for the quality ieVG being VG
2. Book value for PP's seem to be close to double the ads price for VG examples, any input?
3. Is it easy to operate? (ie. racking slide, trigger pull DA, safety lever.) I have a PPK clone (FEG) in .22 which I purchased for my wife. Its great but is like a cap gun. I really want a MAK but think we may be better off with a slightly lower caliber and one which is hopefully fairly easy to rack since my wife has difficulties with 92's and my M40
4. Anybody have any experience with this same purchase. It is for fun not personal defence, and the style my wife likes in the 22 and operation should be nearly identical.
THANKS....

I bought ONE several years ago when they first started coming in, but not from SOG. They are great pistols. Fast shooting, low recoil, and accurate. I shot mine in a pocket pistol match and hit four 8" disks set 3 feet apart at 12 feet in 1.44 seconds. The reason that the price is not as high as what you see in the book is that SOG is a distributor and the book has retail prices. The other thing is that the pistol will probably have departmental markings and will have the importers stamp. These non-factory extra markings lower the value of the pistol to a collector.

I bought one of the current crop and I do not think it has been used. There is some holster wear but the outside of the barrel is like new. Over the time I have owned a lot of these pistols and sold them for what I paid or a profit. There is only one catch. If you do not pay attention the slide will bite you. Other than this, it is a great pistol. Regards, Richard.

These are, indeed, great bargains. Remember when Makarovs were $89? Or CZ-75Bs for $200 with a couple hi-caps thrown in?

That's what the PP is today - a Walther, for heaven's sake, for less than $300. Accessories are available and cheap - mags as low as $14 from Ajax for example. And the .32ACP is growing in popularity as a CCW choice with the hot loadings from Fiocchi and a new HP promised from Speer/Lawman.

Go ahead and order one through your FFL. You won't be sorry. Most of the examples I've seen show only holster wear.

Regards,

Strayhorn

How good is the finish on these guns, I mean quality of finish not blue remaining? Also, how reliable have they been? Do they seem to function well with hollowpoint ammunition, or are they strictly hardball? Also what's the action like on them?

The ones I had and have were 60's vintage Walthers. They look as good as any other German Walther that I have seen. The polish is better than on the French finished guns. Mine have shot Winchester Silvertips with no problems. The DA pull is heavy, but smooth.
