P99

New member
Seeings how I'm somewhat new here and there seems to be a lot of Walther fans, I was wondering what you favorite is.

P99

I voted for the PPK because of my experience with it and its history and nostalgia. But for serious work I have to say the P99.

I'm a traditionalist who likes single-stack Nines, so I voted for the P5. I did own a P99 once, which was a superb shooter and a fine-looking pistol, but out of all the Walthers I'd pull a P5 if I had my pick.

P99...................you're a cruel person! It takes a pretty sick mind to do something like that to other Walther people!

Since I haven't owned, held or shot them ALL, I have to go with the P99. Primarily because of the accuracy I've had with it, and because of the way it feels in my hand. I like the availability of optional equipment for the P99, and the fact that standard cap mags are still available. The different styles available in the P99 is nice, albeit confusing to choose. Most of all, the fact that the P99 still maintains the Walther quality I just becoming to know.

This choice is subject to change depending on which Walther I shoot/buy next!

I chose the P99 because that is my carry pistol. But, my P1, and P5 come in very close. I switch off between all three. :)

P88

The full sized Walther P88 takes second in accuracy only to the Sig P210. It is well designed, reliable, great trigger, and ambidextrous. What more can one say? It is also compact for a wonder nine. Regards, Richard

Big Iron,

This was kind-of a cruel poll, especially to us Walther fans, but I was just curious. I like all of my Walther's pretty much equally, but my P88 stands out just a little more. I love that gun. I wish it wasn't in such great shape, because I could shoot it more. My P99's are right up there. And if I would have had enough money to buy this pre-war PPK I saw at a guns show about 3 months ago, it would have definately been my top choice.

I'm kind-of surprised no one has chosen a PP or P5C yet. In some ways I would think the P5C would have a bi following because it has the thumb mag release, instead of the heal mag release. I've only seen one P5 in real life and someone had chromed it. It felt really good in my hand, but I wasn't sure if I liked the chrome job.

P99

Only have one Walther ... a P99 and it is indeed incredible!

I love the SA/DA trigger set-up. In fact, I really wanted to add a USPc to my collection recently, but decided against it after putting a few rounds through it because its trigger had such a "long" DA first pull in comparison to the rearward DA pull I can get on my P99!

Howdy Folk's,

The only Walther I currently own is an
American made PPK that I am very
happy with. Approximately, 2-1/2 box'es
of factory fodder without a single hiccup.
Would I trust my life to it? You bet I
would; cuz I know my firearms pretty
damn well.

Best Wishes,

Hey P99! I'm with Big Iron on this one!

Man, some Walther people!!

Seriously, I love 'em all. You forgot the PP Super. I might have voted for that one, but it was tough enough as it was.

Mine was the German Polizei Pistole Kriminal. Make mine Party Leader RZM please.

Thanks Devin.

I was debating wether or not to put this poll up, because I knew it would be a hard one for us die hard Walther fans, but I was just curious to see what we all liked best, even though we like them all.

So far, I'm not surprised that the P99 is winning. Seeings how its the newest and more affordable Walther. I am surprised that no one has picked the P.38, PP or the P5C. Personally the P88 is still hard to beat. I would like to have a nice PPK someday though.

Sorry that I forgot the PP Super but I was running out of room (10 choices is the max).

P99

P99,

I don't know that I'll ever know about my PP. It has never been fired, and may stay that way. Personally, I still like the way my P99, or my P88c feel in my hand. The PP is VERY stiff on both the trigger and slide. That would probably loosen with use, but as I said, this one may remain unfired. Maybe one day I'll get me a PP .380 shooter.

My next acquisition will probably be a P5c. I have yet to see one in captivity, but I like the P5 I've looked at. The P5 is just a bit too wide for my hand. As I understand it though the P5c is not quite as wide across the grip. Which would suit me better. But for my money the P99 is still hard to beat. And until I get my hands on a P5c, the P88c is a fairly close second. The P4 is not bad either. I'm afraid the PPK would end up being a "slice-o-matic" for me.

It was still a lousy thing to ask us!:( Off to get some asprin!

I like my Walther .380 PPKs. It is one of the fake made in Germany models. All of the PPK line of pistols were actually made in France after WW11. They were they shiped to Germany where they were proof fired and blued. They then had the fake made in Germany markings put on them.

The point I am trying to make is that if you are ever offered a made in France PPK do not hesitate to buy it because it is the exact same pistol as the fake made in Germany models.

Stay away from the American made PPk line of pistols. Some of them actually work but they are rare. Many will not even feed hard ball ammo. Trigger pins often work their way out of the frame and magazines often fall out of the guns. Do yourself a favor and stick with he French made Walthers. W.R.

I voted for the PPKs because my West German blue PPKs is such a reliable weapon. They are the finest of all the variants of the gun.

This has been an interesting poll. I'm surprised that no one has picked the P.38. It seems like there are so many P.38 collectors out there, yet in this poll, no one has voted for it. Any guesses as to why?

P99

P99,
If I could vote for both my P99, and my P1, I would. But I had to make a hard choice, and the P99 won out. Today, I am carring my P5. Tomorrow, I just might haul out the P1, and strap it on!!:D I do not think that very many people carry a P38 any more as a primary pistol. The closest I can think of is my friend, who keeps a P38 (AC42) in his front room as a home defense gun!!! Like me, he always talks about the good old days when all loyal Germans carried a P38!!!;)

Wild Romanian, have you read "Eine Deutsche Legende"? How's your German?

Walther and Manhurin were both building and marketing the PP series.

Yes, Manhurin was suppying Walther with parts for these guns until 1986.

Walther also made their own parts and assembled the PP series handguns under the Walther banner during this time.

All of the PPK line of pistols were actually made in France after WW11. They were they shiped to Germany where
This is bull****. "All" is a pretty strong descriptive. Try reading the facts from Walther before posting such nonsense.
