Walther P99

I'm a Glock and a Sig fan (heck, if it goes "Boom!" I like it!), and
have a question about the Walther P99. I've been thinking about
getting one but was wondering if the internal safeties make the
gun safe to carry with the striker cocked (to give it that Glock like
feel) or should it be carried with the striker in the down position
like the hammer on the Sig? Thanks!

coffee, the design of the safeties on the p99 make me comfortable enough to carry with the striker cocked, although i tend to carry "decocked" as i am comfortable squeezing off the first round DA if necessary.

If you really want it to be like a Glock get the Quick Action Model. Check the Walter website for details. I have the Standard P99 9mm and wouldn't change it for anything. The DA pull is sweet as is the SA. I too have Glocks and Sigs but the P99 is the most fun to shoot. Never a malfunction either.

Thanks folks!

It took me forever but I finally went down and put money on
a new P99 in 9mm. Getting the standard DA/SA trigger setup.
I actually went to get another glock but started fondling a
Walther they had down there and couldn't resist. The adjustable
backstraps are a great idea! If this thing works right it will be
replacing the Glock in my duty holster.

Have any of you gotten used to the long DA pull yet? I just can't seem to get used to it. In SA the P99 is sweet. And the DA pull is smooth with little stacking but it is a heavy and long to me. Do you get used to it after a while?

napoleon, i got used to it. it's long, sometimes almost seems to take forever, but that first shot is always dead center mass. weak hand it's a bit much still.

coffee357, welcome to the p99 fan club. just remember you now owe all of us that own them i box of ammo each. *grin*

napoleon solo- I also have trouble with the trigger pull being "tooo" long. At times it will go back against the rear of the trigger guard, and not let off..My 9mm P99 has a 3 stage trigger that SUCKS..It's a nice gun to look at, and shoot sometimes, but I wouldn't think of it as a carry gun..:(
