Walther P99

I purchased a brand new P99 last evening at my local indoor range. I immediately went to the lane and began shooting. After going through several clips, the clip got jammed in the gun and slide wouldn't open. I got help from one of the range masters. He unstuck the clip and fired several rounds with no problem. I continued to shoot. Later, after about 100 rounds, the ejector was jamming. By that I mean the expened shell was not fully being ejected from the gun. I went and got another range master to look at the gun with the shell jammed in the action. He told me it would take about 400 rounds to "break-in" the action. Is this true? Should I be experiencing these problems? The description of the ejector not working properly started happening almost right away. Any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance!!

You mentioned "brand new Gun" and went immediately to the range to shoot.

I generally will clean a gun, paricularly a new one, before I shoot it. They have preservatives on them to keep them from rusting in a showroom./

I had a p99 that shot 5000 rnds without one single jam/misfire/FTF/pipes out.........
I sold the gun because after 5000 rnds i still could not shoot as accurate as my G19 or sig 210. I do know about you but that trigger take lots to get use to
I was shooting win USA and GECO ammo

Thank you for your replies. I talked to the gun shop where I purchased the gun and the manager mentioned lubrication also. The gunsmith will take a look at it to make sure there is no problem. I have been shooting the G-19 quite a bit and there is a significant difference in the trigger pull but since I will be shooting the 99 exclusively, I think I can get used to it.
Thanks again

I picked up my German made P-99 .40 today, BUT went home first, and cleaned and lubed it. Put 200 rounds through it (American, Federal, Winchester & Magtech) without a hic-up. I've heard from some others that these need around 400 rounds to break in, but so far I'm extemely happy with mine.

What rounds were you using. The P99 does not like Speer 124gr Gold Dots at all. At least mine doesn't.
