Walther P99 vs. USP compact 9mm

Rented these two side by side this weekend. First, comparing them side by side is a huge advantage. To anyone considering purchase of gun A or B this is a great way. The faults/advantages of each come to light pretty quickly. From my session with these two:
Both are more accurate than I. At 10 yards rounds went were I wanted, no complaints.
HK felt "clunkier" not as svelt and light as the P99.
P99 was a tad longer in the grip, and a tad longer O.A.L., but it felt smaller-weird.
Trigger on P99 was kinda bizzare initially, I shoot mostly Glocks. The trigger seemed to take up a bit and then engage for a brief moment before discharge, but only for initial shot all others were crisp.
Double taps were much easier with P99. I would come up short on shot to shot with USP. I don't know what it was.
The USP magazine was sharp and slightly more difficult/painful to load.
So, the moral of the story shoot 'em then choose. For me, the P99 is the winner. Best.

Blades: That's what I did. I have a 9mm USPc and a 9mm P99. I love them both, but would take the P99 if I had to choose one. I find it more comfortable, I shoot it slightly better, and it holds 16+1 rounds as opposed to 13+1. Also, the P99 is approved by Q-branch.

It's thumbs up again for the P99. Only time will tell if this gun will achieve the cult following of the Glock..I dunno maybe with the price coming down it might be sooner rather than later.

I feel 'safer' with the USPc though because it has proven itself to be extremely reliable and it has a safety lever..just in case.

I know two people who own P99's and they both profess true love for these guns, however, EVERY time I've shot with them, I've seen their gun jam.

I looked at both and read and researched all I could about them while saving up the money. It should be obvious which one I picked to carry.

I love the P99. It has been 100% reliable so far and very accurate. I would still like a USP but the full size version as a range gun is more what I am leaning towards.

I chose a P99 over a USP because I feel the P99 is more comfortable to carry in an IWB holster and it comes with a degree of adjustability not found with the USP. I will get a USP in the future just to have one. Or maybe three.;)

I went with the USP 9c. I too compared them both at the range and really didn't like the trigger on the P99. Could be because I already had 2 other USP's... Just really like the feel of the USP and find it hard to switch to something else. I've shot Glocks, S&W's, Rugers and various 1911's and the USP always feels the best to me. Go figure...

I was trying to decide the same thing only in a 40s&w, I endedup with the USPc, Mainly because of the feel, and the controls like the 1911, It has become my favorate shooter.

I find the WALTHER to be ammo selective. Mine has failed at times. The trigger is not to my liking also, so I have lost my confidence in the P99..My HKs on the other hand have never failed me regardless of what I feed them, so that's my choice..

I have never had a problem with feeding in my P99. No problem no matter what I feed it. I haven't shot the USP but have played with it, the P99 fits the hand better IMO.

wishbone, if you are that unhappy with your p99, please send it to me. i wouldn't want you to keep a gun that you are just not happy with.

Had a SW99. I thought the trigger was terrible. By the time I pulled it all the way to the rear my trigger finger was touching my thumb. That was with the full grip. Neat looking piece though.

I don't really care for the USPc either, but I do like the USPf. Go cocked and locked, the DA trigger sucks.
