i finally got a chance to take my new steyr m9 out today. i also took my walther p99 (9mm) for comparison. in summary, the steyr will be replacing my walther.

btw, i have some p99 high-capacity magazines for sale on the "buy, sell and trade: holsters, gear and accessories".

I too have a P99 which has performed flawlessly for about 2000 rounds. I placed an order last week for the M9. Can't wait to
get it. Can you be more specific as to what you like more about the M9. Thanks

I have a new M40 which I took for the second time to the range today. Practiced some multiple targets , double taps and reloads. I am amazed at the accuracy to engage quickly. Maybe a little less precise for deliberate siting for small grouping, but I think that is more lack of experience and practice. I have a friend with a 40 S+W ver. of the p99 and it shoots very well, with excellant ergonomics. I'msure you will enjoy either one.

wirenut,

the walther is a beautiful gun and has a very durable, beautiful finish (the steyr is almost glock-ugly and has a dull, flat-black finish that scratches too easily)... the walther has high-capacity 16-round (9mm) magazines available (the steyr is stuck with the stupid 10-round magazines)... other than that, i prefer the steyr (grip, sights, trigger, function, etc.)... and the steyr has less muzzle-flip too... it's alot of fun to shoot!

ewok,

i tried all of the different sized back-straps on my p99, and went with the "medium" sized one (even though i have large hands)... i think the m9's grip is about that same size, maybe a little smaller...

btw Ewok, thanks for that citizensofamerica link. I will be donating to their advertising program. It's about time we have pro-gun, truthful programing in the media.

I don't know, I have a P99. I love it. It is the only full size 9MM that I own that truly fits my hand. I tried the M9 at my local gun shop. It didn't "feel" right. I know that egronomic designs are the hot thing now, but I know what feels right, and this M9 thing just doesn't cut it.

Just as there is no such thing as too much fun,
there is no such thing as owning just one gun!!!

Off my meds (quit smoking), armed to the teeth, and loose on an unsuspecting society!!!
