Walther P99 QA Problems?

My father and I got our P99s at the same time. I opted for the more traditional plain jane version, while he got the P99 QA (I guess QA is for the quick-action trigger). We fired them without incident about a week and a half ago and he was cleaning his today when he encountered a problem. The gun disassembled without a problem, but when he put it back together, the gun jammed and locked up tight slightly out of battery. He has since sent it back to the factory service center (translation: S&W). The gun absolutely would not come apart. About the only thing I can think of is the recoil spring was out of position (I've seen people tie up Glocks like this). Anybody have this problem or have any ideas about the cause? I cleaned my P99 without incident.

Sounds like an operator induced malfunction. Probably the guide rod as you have surmised.

it sounds like the guide rod got put in backwards. good luck, hope that you get it straightened out quickly.

Never had that problem. Let us know what they said happened when your father gets it back.
