Walther P99 Military .40S&W

Has anyone else noticed the flood of Walther P99's available in the Military OD Green .40S&W? These are advertised as "Made in Germany". Are these authentic Walther P99's with 100% Walther parts, made in Germany and imported or are they S&W hybrids? In a recent e-mail from Earl of Earl's Repair, he states that he has only the Walther P99 in Military OD Green in stock.

Anyone in the know please share your wisdom on the current state of Walther P99's.

Thanks.

While Earl may not have the lowest price, if you buy from him, you're guaranteed to get a 10% German-made P99, regardless of style and caliber. I, too, have seen the P99 Military in .40 Auto being sold for a tad less, and would bet that they are not 100% German-made. My Walther P99 Military in .40 Auto came from Earl's.

Look for the proof mark on the rear of the slide in the port side. It will be an eagle with an N. That means it was made and tested in Germany. Mine have it on the right side of the frame toward the front, where the laser attaches. Attaching a Walther Laser covers that one up.

Funny you should ask this. On the way home from work I stopped into a sporting goods store and they had a military frame P99, but it had the S&W slide and barrel. The 9mm version that they had was all German made however.
