SORRY - I JUST READ A SIMILAR POST ON A PREVIOUS THREAD!!!

Hi There,

I've seen advertisements for "pre-ban, high-cap" 16 round magazines for the Walther / SW P99. Are these high capacity magazines legal? I thought that the Walther P99 was introduced after the Crime Bill of 1994 was passed. Are such magazines available and legal?

Thanks!

Tom

Available, legal, and expensive.
Manufacturers knew the bill was coming down and the effective date. Walther had a bunch of magazines made and imported into this country before this date.

I've got two of these mags in 9mm, bought from a reputable dealer. They say Walther P99 on the plate, and fit and operate perfectly. Made by Mec-Gar. No sign of any LEO markings.

Where are they available from and how much are they? I just picked up a Walther P99 with two hi-caps, and would like to have at least one more.

FPrice, Earl's Repair service is probably the best place to go. It's at www.carlwalther.com. They charge $125 per mag. Some other wholesalers do have P99 mags listed in Shotgun News, the lowest I've seen have been $99. I have seen SW99 mags listed for as low as $29.99 and supposedly they do work in the P99.

Ouch!

"They charge $125 per mag."

OUCH!

Well, I suppose if I smile REAL hard when I am writing the check, it won't seem so bad. At least I got two with the pistol and only need one more to make my desired minimum.

I would suggest thast you visit www.gunbroker.com.

I bought some genuine Walther/Mec-Gar, 16-round magazines for approx. $82.50 ea. Still pricey, but at least not as bad as $125.

I can provide the e-mail address of the seller (in Texas) that I bought from, if anyone is interested.

Catbird...

"I can provide the e-mail address of the seller (in Texas) that I bought from, if anyone is interested.
"

Please do.

Stop calling it the "Crime Bill of 1994."

It was an intrusion on rights. Besides, I have heard that only slight modifications will get the P88 mags in.

"Stop calling it the "Crime Bill of 1994." "

Well, the bill WAS a crime, against law-abiding gun owners, that is.

Well, now is the time to start thinking about 2004. This election cycle will determine if the bill is going to "sunset" or not!!! Get involved. Write letters and above all support the local pro gun candidate!!!! :D
