I don't believe it is mentioned in the manual whether +P ammo is acceptable for use in the P99, but if you search the Firing Line, you'll find many discussions about this.
Bottom line: P99 is proofed for +P and NATO pressure loads. There should be no problems shooting +P in the P99 and there should be no adverse affects other than the normal "accelerated wear" caveats that all manufacturers say.
I've personally shot 50+ 124gr +P Gold Dots through mine and that is my normal carry load. I've also shot some 100gr +P+ Hirtenberger LE ammo through mine also. No problems whatsoever.
On Pg 6 of the owner's manual in the red warning box, it recommends NOT using +P ammo. I'm using the standard pressure ammo in mine, for longevity reasons, if nothing else.
WaltherP99, no, that's not what it says. Here's what it says:
If you prepare your handloads be careful, and
do not exceed recommended pressures in line with those generated by standard factory
loads (not +P) as manufactured by Remington, Winchester, Federal, Hornady, PMC or other
reputable companies.
That is saying, if you roll your own, make sure you DON'T exceed standard pressures. It doesn't say not to use FACTORY +P ammo from reputable manufacturers.
The Proof Mark on the German made means it has been tested with an overcharge, so it will hold up. Proofing consists of firing at least two loads as high as 50% over maximum normal loading as dictated by the proof laws. The wear issue is one to consider.
I carry +P+ in mine and shoot it sometimes, I do not routinely shoot +P+ though.
