well guys..... i've got good and bad news.... according to my dealer.... the P22's are still on the way..... the bad news.... between the BATF approval and S&W acting like babies and insisting on thier guns being imported first (which is being set back several months due to the recent change of hands).... Optimisticly we are looking at Dec. 1

Isn't it frustrating KNOWING that your gun is sitting accross an ocean waiting to be shipped!

oh well..... I guess I'll just collect intrest on that $ for a lil while .... I wonder if they'll dicount the 2001 models when it'll probly be 2002 when we see em?

I just talked to my dealer, who called RSR distributing. RSR said they still expect them in September. I then called WaltherUSA when I got back to work and they said the same thing....September.

So, unless your dealer knows something for sure, it still looks like September. Although I won't hold my breath

I talked to a Walther/*&* rep at a local gun club's field day this last weekend - he also told me September, but only for the short-barrel version. Apparently, the long barrel version is being held up by BATF paperwork.

He sounded pretty peeved about the matter. I think these things are going to be big sellers if they don't just jam at every squeeze of the trigger...

Big government really pisses me off. Why can't they just approve the damn thing and get it over here instead of sitting around with their thumbs up their asses?

Does it pass the required import points? YES! Is it safe? YES! WELL WHAT IN THE HELL IS THE HOLD UP?????

You don't see them having any trouble passing out welfare at the drop of a hat. Or restricting (banning) another weapon because the sheeple think it's "evil" at a moments notice.

Rant mode off.

That would really have me chafed! December?

Any more details on what the holdup would be, (if there really is one) and why a .22 target version of an already importable gun in 9mm and .40 would fail BATF's patently un-constitutional "sporting purpose" test?

This is the only .22 cool enough to make me want another .22 pistol.

gimme gimme gimme!

Earls called me and told me they have the 5" model coming in on 31st of this month. They are first ones to get them in US. Price is 287.00. Igave him my credit card #! He says i will have it by first week of Sept.I think he already sold out of them. Cant wait to get it!

I have the unfortunate experience of living in California. Does anybody know if Walther submitted these to California to be tested to determine if the gun is safe? You now a gun isn't safe until the State of California says it is.:barf:

For the Kali folks, I wrote Walther-usa an email and got this back (note the email address):

This model is not available yet. I do not know if they will submit this
model at this time. The gun will probably be available in September,
October

Hi,

Just curious if you have submitted the P22 for testing in California, or if
you are going to do so at all. I am interested in getting one, but as of
yet don't see them on the approved list out here. Thanks in advance for you
help.

Yes I do. I'm not in any hurry though. I'm making some expensive changes to my G3 rifle so the P22 is kind of on the back burner for now. Probably by the first of the year or early spring.

Just talked to Earl's and they don't actually have them yet but will by the first of next week. They're listing extra magazines as well (flat bottom and finger groove). He thinks the pistol will come with one of each but is not sure. Decisions decisions....which extra mags to buy and save some shipping.

Herr Walther, one last question. noticed on subject list your Wathers, you have a pp from 1929. i also have one. serial# 758xxx. yours in the same range? these are very hard to find!

EXACTLY! This really frosts me. I was really hot-to-trot to get one of those, now I'm just thinking maybe I'll not bother. Maybe I'll get another Glock.
