Thinking about a P22 for teaching the newbies; my only .22 right now is a near-3-lb target beast with anatomic grips (really only good for offhand shooting).
Looks like you can get the base model, blue, 3.4" P22 for somewhere in the low $200s. That's not too shabby, and it just plain looks cool--that'd go a long way in getting newbies comfortable. (I'm not going to make them choose between my target beast or my .44 or .45.)
Lots of folks were complaining about FTFs, FTEs, crappy magazines, and general poor quality. Is this still the case? Do these little guys need to break in? What's the latest?
