Walmart Wonder!

For the first time in more than a year, the local Walmart had .45acp in WWB as well as plenty of 9mm and even some 22LR. I took home three 100 rd boxes of the 45 acp, leaving five on the shelf.

Maybe we're beginning to see some light at the end of this ammo shortage tunnel. Wishful thinking or not? :)

The shortage has been letting up for a while in my area, the only caliber we have trouble finding around here is .380.

I see the OP is in Texas. My buddy works in that state, so we compare these shortages by emailing each other. Texas Wal-Marts appear far better off for ammo inventory than Wal-Marts here in AZ...:(

Walmarts here in Central FL are still very much hit or miss for handgun ammo with .40 S&W being more available than anything else. However the local gun stores all have a pretty good supply of about everything except .380.

I've only had luck at W-M because I stop by every other day. There are 2 directly on my way home. I've seen a large shipment come in, only to be wiped out within one day. :(

For the first time in a long time I was able to purchase some .40SW and .357Magnum at Walmart. Still no .45ACP. The clerk tells me that they put it out in the morning when they have it and it disappears shortly after.

Better off? Not by much...

Well, yesterday was the first time in over a year that my local Wally World had any usable calibers in stock. And who knows how long it'll be until they have some more? If they have some on the shelf the next time I wander in, I'll begin to think that we're making some headway against this ammo shortage. ;)

Suffolk VA

Wal Mart in Suffolk VA off of College Dr has alot of ammo, as of 9:45 this morning. Lots of 9mm in WWB, UMC Bulk, Federal. Also several WWB 45 ACP, lots of .22, .223, 30-06 and several other rifle calibers. Unfortunately there are no .380's. Just thought i'd put this out there!

Ammo is much more readily available here in southwest PA than a few months ago. I can reliably pick up ammo for my .45acps now, and shelves seem to be stocked well with a wide variety of calibers.

Sadly, my other choices are not so lucky. No .45 colts or pretty much anything in the 32 family to be found anywhere. I've been dying to get some more trigger time on my .327, but all I can find is .32auto (which could work) but it is ~ $35 per 50, and thats just too expensive for such a terrible load.

The walmarts here in the Killeen/ft Hood area have had plenty of 9mm. Also, the mom and pop stores have had 9mm too. I have had a hard time finding ANY decent HD 9mm

No 9mm or .22lr to speak of at my nearest WalMart. Been in there about 4 times in the past month or so. Seems that the ammo has not changed at all every time I've been there.

I am in south eastern Alabama(Auburn/Opelika) and wallmart's down here seem to be getting more in all the time. Last week i went into wallyworld at midnight and saw one box of .380 on the shelf! I immediatly found a rep and got him to help me. Out of the blue a manager comes by and tells me and the rep that there are NO ammo purchases after 10pm and untill 7am. I was furrious! I argued with him for 5min,but all he could say is that its store pollicy. After he left the rep told me that he had heard from another manager that they could sell ammo that late. Anyone else ever have this problem? Any way, the next day i went buy WM after work around 530pm and i was sure that the .380 box would be gone, but wanted to check on the chance i might be lucky. Low and behold it was still there! I could tell that the stack of 9mm next to it had been depleated, but 380 wasnt touched:).

About 2 weeks befor this I was in a Wallmart in Lagrange Georgia and went to the gun section to pick up a box of .357 for my new marlin 1894c. I was amazed to see 2 100rd boxes of winchester .380 ball sitting on the shelf. Stupidly i didnt purchace either of the two(cause i bought 2 100rd boxes or 357) and they were gone when i came back the next day. It seems to me that Wallmarts in Alabama and Georgia have much more ammo now! .380 is hit or miss still, but at least its starting to come back around. Down here I have no problem finding .45acp(ball or SD),.40S&W(ball or SD),
9mm(B or SD) and .357/38spl in Wallmart lately and it has been that way for a month or two. However I do live in small town(rural)USA and can see why that may not be the case in towns/citys with bigger populations.

The Academy closest to me has kept most major calibers (at least the ones I shoot) in stock: .45acp, .40S&W, 9mm, .223., and .22lr. They almost always have "Monarch" Serbian-made munitions, and I had a decent with them recently until I tried the .40S&W :barf:... Think I'm going to stick with WWB.

Ours seem to have plenty of 22 and the rest is totally getting there at the right time. .223 not too bad, other rifle calibers and pistol are iffy. Stop at 3 of them once a week but should be saving my gas.

My Wal mart has been steadily getting in more ammo over the last 3 months. Where I am, the drought is certainly over.

Wally here has NO handgun ammo at all.... I thought maybe they werent going to have handgun ammo anymore??!! IF they do still intend to carry it....its not been available for nearly a yr.

The last time I checked they had 9mm, 38 Spec, 40 S&W, 357 Sig, 44 Mag, and 380. Guess what I was looking for - right - 45 ACP.
