WalMart phone in - should we sell guns?

Snippet from the Neal Knox newsletter.

"Walmart founder Sam Walton was a dedicated quail hunter, and must be rolling over in his grave over the success of anti-gun
activists in blocking gun and ammo sales at two stores.

The company is now taking a call-in count of whether they should continue to sell guns in their other stores.

To voice your opinion call (800) 925-6278, select option #1, then option #4, which -- after an 8-10 minute wait -- will give you
a real-live representative in the CEO's office."

I can't believe they'd even pose this question.

walmarts email if anybody wants it :D

Thanks MOM.

"The Anti-Gun people are putting pressure on Walmart to stop selling
guns and ammunition. So Walmart is making a tally of all who call in to
their Customer Service Relation Department at 1-800-925-6278 who are
opposed to the Anti-Gun pressure on Walmart, Call the above number and
Voice your opposition now. Be sure to give them your name and address
for their record of Pro-Gun Customers.
Then pass this information on to all those you know to be Pro-Gun
people and hunters.
Standing up for your and others rights."

I called WalMart and asked them if they'd take e-mail responses instead of a
phone call. They said "Yes". Their website is www.walmart.com. Click
on the Customer Service icon and then click on the Contact information.
Fill in the appropriate blanks and send a short message supporting their
sales
policy on firearms and ammo. Don't let this source dry up. This is really
up
to us. If WalMart doesn't get a sufficient response, they'll stop selling
firearms and ammo and that would be a real shame.

If it seems good to you, perhaps you could send this notice to all of
the recipients on your list. WalMart is more than willing to resist the
anti-gun forces. They'd just like to have some vocal support from
legitimate firearms owners.

Sent them a letter last week as a matter of fact, over the one in Florida. Everyone should do the same. :)

Ask em to please not discontinue.

We teach the safety, situational awarenes and handling skills.

Their attractive prices make it easier for people to practice their skills so as to better defend themselves and their children against rape, robbery and injury to the children.

I ask them to please not cave in to those who would insure that only criminals have access to guns.

Sent them an e-mail. LEt them know that I order all my PD's practice shotgun ammo from a local Wal-mart because of thier prices. I let them know that they might possibly affect the amount of training our department gives it's officers if they were to cease offering such goods at these kinds of prices. A stretch? No, this is what will happen for small PDs everywhere if costs go up and thier limited budgets don't.

Guys,

I did my part. I emailed and called, speaking to one of the CEO's representatives. She was polite and informed me that not only is Wal-Mart not going to discontinue any guns in ANY stores, but not even in the Florida store in question. The Florida store will still be selling guns, but they will not be displayed due to the proximity of the new store to a school. This is still a cop-out as far as I'm concerned and should be addressed. Basically it tells me that Wal-Mart is caving in a little bit. Just becuse a gun can be seen for purchase means nothing. This is ridiculous. I called and voiced my opinion as far as this was concerned. I hope that everyone reads this and calls and emails. The moer pressure they get, the better.

I went to Walmarts site and sent them an e-mail and followed it up today with a visit to my local store and spoke with the manager. He confirmed that there was in fact a poll being taken.I stopped by customer service after visiting the sporting goods section where I had just bought a box of cartridges and a recoil pad.I made sure the manager knew that I had just made a purchase as we were talking and implied that it would be a shame if Walmart lost me as a customer. He was very polite and seemed interested in my opinion.

This level of participation is encouraging!

Now while we are all at it, wich is fantastic, lets all fire off another call/letter/e-mail to our beloved reps!

I've never been to a WalMart, but I called and talked to a very friendly "Dixie" lady who said they were taking a running survey. This is important. If the anti's can shut down gun sales at WalMart, what's left?

I asked the rep. if he'd received one call in opposition to having firearms and ammo in the stores and he said no. That's a ggood thing.

I sent in an e-mail and will call as well.

fmjcafe,
I like the idea of going over to my local wal-mart and asking the question " Is it true your taking a poll" and showing them the shooting supplies you purchased. I believe that would make a lasting impression. I will do my best to make it to wal-mart in the am.

I sent the e-mail, although I was told by a customer service rep at their 800 number that they were not taking a poll, and that Walmart is not going to stop selling guns.

Done. I also asked that they put a certain South Carolina Barbeque sauce back on their shelves. It was pulled because the guy who makes it flies a confederate flag at his business.
