Walker Colt

Ok so I've decided that I must have a Walker. I've been eyeballing the Uberti replica. Any one have any thoughts?

Yes I want one too. With a 9 - inch barrel. I have a 3rd Model Dragoon (Armi San Marco) but need a walker.

Just out of curiosity, what are they worth in the US??

Where I live (Australia) the asking price new is around $700.

360 if you load all six holes. ;)

Sixty grain loads are tough on the frame after awhile. After a few cylinders, you'll start seeing peening of the frame behind the wedge.

I'd agree with that if it had a brass frame; I find it difficult to believe with a steel frame. The cylinder ratchet teeth might be affected but I doubt even that. I assume you have a gun that has such damage; can you post pictures of it?

I shoot mine occasionally in Cowboy Action matches, and both of them developed such peening in fairly short order with 60 grain loads. I now use just enough to still get a full stroke of the ram when seating the ball, for which a 30gr Traditions spout works perfectly.

I just reread your post and must apologize. I thought you had claimed damage to the recoil shield and the back of the cylinder, which I found difficult to believe. I misunderstood.

Damage in the wedge area is possible, and while unusual, perhaps even rare, I have seen such damage on a Walker.

This was about impossible to get a picture at all with a damn cell phone, but here are the best four out of a dozen or so.

Colt Walker 1847

I have a third generation Walker .44 that I bought from "Colt Blackpowder Arms Co." in '99. It has been in my safe since that time. It has never been fired and has been handled very little. I also bought the "Presentation Case" with all the accroutrements (flask, bullet mould, nipple tool, cap tin) and it is in beautiful condition. I am asking $850.00 for all pieces. If you are interested you can call me at: (360) 574-8794 Larry

Ps. I also have an "Colt" 1861 springfield 3 band rifle that I bought at the same time. I am asking $975.00 for it and it includes the sling and bayonet. It is also in excellent condition and has also never been fired.
