I was looking at fishing lures today at my local Wal Mart and stopped to see if they had any good rifles on sale. Posted in the rifle cabinet was a US map with red and green states. The map logo said that citizens of the green states could legally buy a rifle there and citizens of the red states couldn't.
Needless to say Californians can't buy a rifle in my state...what else is new? But according to the map Nevadans and folks from several of the big square states and northern states couldn't either, though I was surprised to see so many green eastern states.
So what is the story here? Where can you find state laws regarding buying rifles in other states? I haven't seen this in packing.org. This is really confusing to me, as I thought that the Feds regulate interstate commerce and the purpose of that precident was to prevent the states from setting up internal tariffs or other trade impediments. I wonder if there is precident for a class action suit against the states which don't allow their citizens to buy legal products in other states, as it would seem to violate interstate commerce laws.
