A former federal attorney has been charged with obstructing the investigation into the botched 1993 seige at the Branch Davidian compound at Waco, Texas that he helped arrange.

Former assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Johnston was charged with two counts of obstruction of justice and three counts of lying to investigators and a federal grand jury.

The indictment was returned Wednesday as Waco special counsel John C. Danforth released his final report absolving the government of wrongdoing in the siege.

Not sure what if anything will come of this. Sounds like to little, to late.

Bill Johnston participated in the prosecution of the Branch Davidian survivors, but even so every one says he's straight arrow. He became a marked man at the Justice dept. when he refused to take a hint to shut up about the pyrotechnic tear gas grenades found amoung the Waco evidence. Afraid of retaliation, he tried to withhold some of his notes on this matter. That is the purported cause of this indictment. Many think the indictment is his punishment for being a "whistleblower."
