What's going on with the Senate race between Gorton and Cantwell? Is there a recount in progress?

It seems as though this should be a big story, since it will determine whether or not the GOP controls the US Senate.

Final day for counties to certify is today. I think this is the original count. With it being this close, I think a recount may be mandatory. Funny how Gorton had been ahead for something like a week now, then Cantwell jumps ahead last night, just prior to certification day. Could be genuine, but after Florida, Missouri, Wisconsin, etc., I just can't help but be suspicious.

Automatic Recount

I understand that a recount is automatic with such a close race. Maybe they need some Republican dimples to win.
