Washington/Oklahoma - Washington State no longer honors Oklahoma. They are stating that Oklahoma issues to those under 21 so they will no longer honor them. https://www.atg.wa.gov/concealed-weapons

Corps of Engineers – Well the fix put forth by the Corps for legally carrying on Corps property has been withdrawn. All I know is what they posted on their site. Colorado - The Governor has signed SB 21-256 which guts their preemption law. This new law allows local authorities to make laws more strict than state laws on firearms and their accessories. Saw a story where Denver was looking at banning AR’s. Looks like it is effective immediately.

Texas Permitless Carry – Not Effective until September 1, 2021. . . The GOA has put out a 2 page FAQ on the new statute. That FAQ also has a link to a free download from US LawShield that is really good at answering a lot of questions about the new law. https://texas.gunowners.org/1927faq/

I am in the process of updating just about every document on Handgunlaw.us. There are many statute changes in a number of state come July 1. Site will not be updated until July 1 due to the number of changes and the time it takes to get it all done.

Been looking at the firearm statutes for a long time and the more they pass the more complicated they get. It is way beyond the point that no one can know them all and with the way government is going anyone can be arrested. It is impossible to stay within all the laws as written. So we technically are all Law Breakers! Below are all good bills that make it better for us who wish to own and carry firearms but make things more and more complicated.

That’s weird, instead of axing Oklahoma all together, they could’ve just stated only Oklahoma permit holders 21 years of age or older.

Whether I knew anything about their governor or not, it’s still weird in my book because it doesn’t make any sense at all to just cut all reciprocity agreements with a particular state just because that state doesn’t allow 18-year-olds, 19-year-olds and 20-year-olds to carry legally.

Oh well.

So, it sounds like signage now carries the force of law in Colorado. Is that what i am getting out of this. How does a town/city (say Denver) post signs nullifying a CCW?

Basically, however they decide. But they have to post.

18-12-214. Authority granted by permit - carrying restrictions - local authority. (1) (a) A permit to carry a concealed handgun authorizes the permittee to carry a concealed handgun in all areas of the state, except as specifically limited in this section. A permit does not authorize the permittee to use a handgun in a manner that would violate a provision of state law. A local government does not have authority to adopt or enforce an ordinance or resolution that would conflict with any provision of this part 2.

(c) (I) A LOCAL GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING A SPECIAL DISTRICT, OR THE GOVERNING BOARD OF AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION, INCLUDING THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE AURARIA HIGHER EDUCATION CENTER, MAY ENACT AN ORDINANCE, RESOLUTION, RULE, OR OTHER REGULATION THAT PROHIBITS A PERMITTEE FROM CARRYING A CONCEALED HANDGUN IN A BUILDING OR SPECIFIC AREA WITHIN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT'S OR GOVERNING BOARD'S JURISDICTION, OR FOR A SPECIAL DISTRICT, IN A BUILDING OR SPECIFIC AREA UNDER THE DIRECT CONTROL OR MANAGEMENT OF THE DISTRICT, INCLUDING A BUILDING OR FACILITY MANAGED PURSUANT TO AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE DISTRICT AND A CONTRACTOR. AN ORDINANCE, RESOLUTION, OR OTHER REGULATION PROHIBITING A PERMITTEE FROM CARRYING A CONCEALED HANDGUN MAY ONLY IMPOSE A CIVIL PENALTY FOR A VIOLATION AND REQUIRE THE PERSON TO LEAVE THE PREMISES. FOR A FIRST OFFENSE, THE ORDINANCE, RESOLUTION, OR OTHER REGULATION MAY NOT IMPOSE A FINE THAT EXCEEDS FIFTY DOLLARS AND MAY NOT IMPOSE A SENTENCE OF INCARCERATION. A PERSON WHO DOES NOT LEAVE THE PREMISES WHEN REQUIRED MAY BE SUBJECT TO CRIMINAL PENALTIES.

(II) IF A LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR GOVERNING BOARD PROHIBITS CARRYING A CONCEALED HANDGUN IN A BUILDING OR SPECIFIC AREA, THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR GOVERNING BOARD SHALL POST SIGNS AT THE PUBLIC ENTRANCES TO THE BUILDING OR SPECIFIC AREA INFORMING PERSONS THAT CARRYING A CONCEALED HANDGUN IS PROHIBITED IN THE BUILDING OR SPECIFIC AREA. THE NOTICE REQUIRED BY THIS SECTION MAY BE INCLUDED ON A SIGN DESCRIBING OPEN CARRY RESTRICTIONS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 29-11.7-104.

(2.5) A PERMIT ISSUED PURSUANT TO THIS PART 2 DOES NOT AUTHORIZE A PERSON TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN INTO A PLACE WHERE THE CARRYING OF CONCEALED HANDGUNS IS PROHIBITED BY A LOCAL ORDINANCE, RESOLUTION, RULE, OR OTHER REGULATION.

(3.5) A PERMIT ISSUED PURSUANT TO THIS PART 2 DOES NOT AUTHORIZE A PERSON TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN ONTO THE REAL PROPERTY, OR INTO ANY IMPROVEMENTS ERECTED THEREON, OF A PUBLIC COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY IF THE CARRYING OF CONCEALED HANDGUNS IS PROHIBITED BY THE GOVERNING BOARD OF THE COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY.

The portion I highlighted in blue is the signage language. The law does not stipulate any specific language, but it does stipulate that signage must be posted.

Its not just Denver im worried about. Co springs, Pueblo and a few others come to mind as a problem while traveling around the state.

That's for the courts to decide.

In this neck o' the woods, towns and cities routinely post a sign on main roads entering the municipality that the speed limit within city/town limits is 'X' MPH unless otherwise posted. 'X' is usually 25 for larger cities and 35 for smaller towns. That generally seems to suffice. I suppose they could do the same for guns.

My home town several years ago adopted a local ordinance that prohibits possession of a firearm (even unloaded) on any Town-owned property. They didn't post any signs on roads leading into town and they didn't post signs at the entrances to any Town-owned properties, but the ordinance is available on the Internet. Apparently the courts haven't objected to that as being sufficient notice (although, to be honest, I don't know how often the ordinance is invoked).
 
I dunno that "putting up a sign" is required for a law, or every state and town in the country would have signs the size of the Criminal Code at every highway crossing the state/city line. "There wasn't a sign that said murder was against the law here" has never been a defense.

Berkeley, CA has a "nuclear free zone" law since the mid-80s, and there are signs about this on several of the bigger thoroughfares. I don't think the signs are there to keep wicked nuclear weapons out, but rather to make the city council and residents feel good about themselves.

Washington State has gone out of its way, and continues to do so, to become one of the most 'firearms unfriendly' states in the Union.

I traveled for 28 years wherever and whenever I was told to. I now only travel to Free States. Thanks for taking the time to post this.
