VP9, HK45 size comparison

Hi,

These two guns are similar in appearance, but how similar are they side by side? Are they approximately the same size or different?

Agree with Uncle Malice, who, judging from his collection, is an authority.

It sounds like you are thinking of a VP9. Make sure you shoot one and are not bothered by the trench HK dug in the bottom of the trigger guard. To me it's quite irritating.

I have the VP9 and I love it which is why I'm now looking at the HK45 - the grip which I think is incredible. I did handle the 45c but it didn't feel as good in the hand.

Mastro, have you handled the HK45? The side panels are not replaceable like the VP9. The HK45 is a big gun. I love mine but am toying with the idea of selling it. It isn't really size efficient.

I've only handed the 45c...was not aware the side panels can't be changed...I'll probably wait until I can find one to handle in the shop. Thanks for the info.

Yep. I've owned the HK45 and HK45 Tactical. Sold them both. if you want a full size, the USP 45 is my favorite. 2 more rounds and SHORTER in the grip, plus a better trigger. What's not to like?

I *DO* like the HK45 Compact a lot, though. In fact, I own 2 of them.

I have both and the HK45 is a bit larger but not so much in my opinion that it should matter unless you have smaller hands or plan to CCW it.

As always best bet to try one out for yourself to see if it works for you or at least handle one and the HK45 should not be that hard to find. I tried USP 45 and HK45C both also but bought the HK45 and is my hands down favorite as far as HK 45s and I shoot it much better than those two. I really like the grip style of the HK45/P30/VP9.

BTW you can view measurements of HK pistols at the link below.

My HK45 SA/DA is one of the very best semiautomatic pistols that I own. But when I get the Compact version, it will be a LEM trigger variant!

Looking forward to the pics...it would be nice if it came in a compact version but I think a midsize would be even sweeter. I don't like small 45s...

I'm no photo pro and not sure what angles or perspectives you would like to see. I can post any photos that you want. If you look closely at the last two pics, you see the difference in the grip size between the two pistols (at least that is what I tried to capture). It is noticeable feeling in the hand, but not significant looking in the photos. I do not remember which panels I have in each gun. I suspect both are set up for the small or medium grips, since I prefer smaller grip pistols in general. I have larger hands with shorter fingers. Anyway, hope these help.

Both are a dream to shoot, especially the 45 with the can on it. I find them both to be very accurate pistols for combat guns especially with very little time behind each.
