Rules are rules kids.

"Cheap" money wise for SD.

Hi-point or Taurus?

Zip it, no comments (in plain english)
please. LOL

If you had to chose one or the other which would you pick and why?

Sig, Kimber or S&W

I'd rather spend a little more on the front end:
Ala "Things of quality have no fear of time"
"The bitterness of poor quality lasts much longer than the sweetness of a low price"

Tarus.

Not a fan of either but Tarus is made a little better. Plus you have more caliber/size choices

I have never had a problem with several Taurus pistols I have or had. I particularly like the PT92 and Pt1911. I have heard their customer service was lousy, but never had to use CS. Hi Point feels too cheap and feels like a cordless drill in my hand. So I broke the rules. This is America where rules are broken all the time with no consequences.

I have a Taurus 24/7 ds pro. Absolutely 100% reliable. Very accurate. Polished feed ramps and all the bells. However, it was one of their high end pistols, but I don't think they make it no more. Was 2005 handgun of the year, mine was made in 08 with more added features.

I carry it every day and shoot it most every week.

When I purchased it, I coulda bought anything under the glass. I'm being honest when I say that no other pistol in the store matched the quality and function of the Taurus.

My neighbor has a Raven .380. This semi has a crack in the chamber, visible on the outside of the pistol. He continues carrying it, despite what I told him about safety and whatnot. This leads me to the conclusion that pot metal is bad for guns. I know, I may be jumping... But I'd rather jump and be wrong than ignore and be right. He's an idiot, and cheap guns *can* be dangerous.
