Vote in Polls on DC Guns

Absolutely. Why should our nation's capitol be any different from other states? They already have taxation without representation. Crime in DC is bad. I would certainly appreciate the right to defend myself against armed thugs who don't care about gun laws, much less laws prohibiting robbery and murder.

Voted yes on both. Good on you for the link.

Maybe we could get a sticky just for these type of polls.

United we stand, divided we fall.

It says the mayor will continue to enforce all gun laws. Does that mean he isn't lifting the ban even though a court said it was unconstitutional?

D.C. Councilmember Phil Mendelson has scheduled a hearing that will focus on gun control and gun violence. The hearing will be held on March 21.

Preliminary D.C. police statistics show that 267 gun-involved robberies and assaults were reported during the first six weeks of 2007, compared with 181 in the same period in 2006, Mendelson said.

"This situation will likely worsen if the court's decision is not overturned," he said. "Guns are too commonplace already."

This was in the story on the first link provided, bolding is mine. That being said,

Is this moron for real!?!?

Okay, I am calm again. Does this genius realize that DC has one of the worst crime rates in America and the most restrictive gun laws? The democrats rail that Bush's plan is not working in Iraq, we need something else. But when it comes to a thirty year old law that has turned our nations capitol into a criminal-infested craphole, we need to stay the course.

Already, this year gun crimes are up 47.5%, but we need to keep guns banned so criminals can't get them:rolleyes: . Yeah, that strategy is working soooo well.:barf:

Sorry, I just had to vent.
