Volunteer Arms Commando "Tommygun"

Does anyone here have any experience with or knowledge of the Volunteer Arms "Thompson" look alike? I believe they were made several years ago and the company is no longer around. I have seen a couple examples at gun shows for about $400. Both were a little worn looking. Any opinions are welcome. Thank you.

IIRC, they were made in Knoxville, Tennessee. They used a cast receiver that looked something like the Thompson SMG, but was much cruder. There were two models, one with horizontal foregrip and one with a vertical foregrip. There was also a 9mm version, but I never saw one. They were blowback, firing from a closed bolt, and (like the more recent Auto-Ordnance semi autos) required two men and a small boy to cock. They used only stick mags and took the WWII TSMG magazines. They later changed the name to Commando Arms, and I think are now out of business. Prices seem to run around $400 in new condition, down around $150 for well used.

They were not too bad when new, but eventually they all seem to develop problems. They used some surplus TSMG parts, but other parts are hard to come by.

I like mine but it is definitely just a novelty gun. my biggest complaint is that they can't use drums.
