Volquartsen Hammer & Bolt Release

I was off work today so I installed a VQ target hammer and a auto bolt release today.

The hammer really improved the trigger, went from over 6lbs. to 3lbs.

I am still on the fence with the auto bolt release. It is easier to release the open bolt but it is harder to lock it open, it wants to close unless you find just the right position with the release.

Now I need to decide what scope that I am going to put on it. I will be using it mostly for squirrles and 50 yard target shooting. To don't want it to look like it's all scope. I want it to handle good in the woods. I am thinking something with a 28 to 33 objective and no more than 12oz in weight, so I am going to rule out the Mueller, I think. Any suggestions up to $200.

A standard 3-9X42mm will do fine even to 100 yards, nothing expensive needed, about $75.00. I like P-4 lighted recticals .

I just fixed up an old 10/22 and installed the volquarsen auto bolt release also. Sure makes it nicer to operate. I also installed an extened mag release, a hogue overmolded o.d. green stock, put on a GI web sling, reblued the barrel, replaced the rear sight, but didnt like the sights so I installed a scope. 10/22's sure are fun to tinker with. I have had pretty good luck using inexpensive bushnell and simmons scopes on rimfires. I put a lightly used bushnell sportsman 3x9x32 that was laying around in my closet on this 10/22 and it doesnt perform like a cheep scope. It's clear and works fine. I put nicer stuff on my centerfires because the recoil can obliterate a crap scope, but have used many lower end simmons and bushnells on rimfires. I have one on my marlin .22 mag and it's an absolute tack driver on all scope settings. But definitely get what you want if you have the money to buy a really nice scope. My suggestion would be to browse natchez shooter supply online for their current scope sales. They have unbelievable sale prices on scopes.
