Visiting Vermont, can she carry?

Hello all, I am new to the site and hopefully I wont get too much criticism for this question, but I figured I would ask out of curiosity. I am a MA resident traveling to Vermont for a few days staying at a cabin in a place with a not so great crime rate. I (22 years old) have an unrestricted license to carry concealed in the state of MA, while my girlfriend (19 years old), has an FID card which limits her to rifles not capable of being large capacity, shotguns, and mace/oc sprays. I have been informed by individuals that the age to carry a handgun in Vermont is 18 and there is no laws regulating firearms other than that you can not be a felon and have a firearm, which both of us are far from. As non-residents to Vermont, would she be able to carry one of my handguns for personal protection while we are in the state or is she restricted because of her MA firearms license limitations?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

As far as I can tell from http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/vermont.pdf, it should be ok since they don't issue permits and, therefore would neither honor or dishonor another state's Read through for yourself or check with VT AG's office but I would think that if she is of legal age to possess and carry, it should be fine

You follow the law of the state you are physically in at the time- not the laws in the state that you are from.

Your GF is perfectly able to carry while she is with you in VT.

Though VT was invaded by libera's from NY and MA in the 70's they managed to keep some sane laws like gun laws.:D

That is absolutely correct. As long as you meet the age requirement and are not prohibited from owning firearms, you can carry in VT.

Ha! Despite being overrun by flatlanders, we have. You must understand that VT, outside of the Burlington area, is still very traditional and fiercely protective of individual rights. Acceptance of gay marriage, for example, is really just an expression of defending personal rights... it's not so much about "liberalism" An interesting place to live.
