There is a virus going around...it attaches to e-mail and in Usenet. It won't do anything until you execute it. Its known as a worm and once operational it will propagate itself with each e-mail you send without you knowing. Its relatively harmless but leaves you vulnerable to others.

Background on it:

Procedure to cleanup in case you received HAPPY99.EXE and executed
it :
---------------------------------------------------------------------
* Shutdown windows and re-start the computer in DOS mode
* at C:\WINDOWS\ prompt, change directory to c:\windows\system by
typing
"CD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM" or just "CD SYSTEM" and hit enter key
* type DEL SKA.* and hit enter key (this will delete SKA.EXE and
SKA.DLL)
* type COPY WSOCK32.SKA WSOCK32.DLL and hit enter key
* type EXIT and hit enter to go back to windows.
* Delete Happy99.exe which got downloaded with the internet email..

This should cleanup the PC and arrest this problem.

I was hit with this thing a day or two ago and I was sending it out inadvertently to the people I correspond with.

Sorry if I got you.. ..I have already deleted the original Email, so I don't know where I got it, but I think it was a TLFer. It takes no time to fix the problem and I seem to be clean now.

Hey Rob, did you need a 'script for the pc-cillan you used ? and about "contracting" it from a TFLer... did you promise you'd "call" 'em the next day? ;)

Someone sent me the virus about a month ago. My anti-virus program picked up on it before I opened it. After a few changes, I now have the fireworks program virus free. :)
