Here is a video showing my process for reloading .577 Snider cartridges. The video shows three techniques:
1. using 24 ga. shotshells and .600 roundballs
2. using new Jamison brass cartridge cases
3. using fire formed cases.
The roundball loads are the only really accurate loads for me so far.
In new brass .573" Minie balls are the largest that I can get into the cases. In the fire formed brass I'm loading .583"Minie balls, but I haven't shot them yet.
I had ordered some .590 Minie balls on line. They arrived labeled .590, but when I measured them, they were actually only .5735" in diameter...a real disappointment. So I'm still on the hunt for .590 bullets.
The next video will show these loads being shot in an R.B. Roda .577 sporting rifle.
