Vet looking for hunting buddies.

I recently moved back to the lower 48 after living in Alaska. My ex wife and I divorced and I thought that moving closer to my family might be a good Idea. The problem is, is that I don't have anyone to hunt with here. I was shot up pretty bad in Iraq so i don't walk the best but I can walk and carry my own load. I am therefore looking for someone to go hunting with me. I can manage by myself, so I am not looking for someone to carry me or anything. But my girlfriend does not like it when I go out by myself, and I don't know a place around here anyway. So I am looking for anyone out there that would be willing to let me tag along or that sort of thing. I am a safe hunter I keep secret locations secret, just need a little help finding someplace to go and someone to go with. I am willing to drive, and split costs and things. I live in western Michigan but as I said I am willing to travel and pay out of state fees for a good place to go. So if anyone needs another for their hunting trip or wants to carpool shoot me a message.

Words may seem shallow, but thanks for your service Stevedscross.

I'd hunt with you without reservation, but I'm a long ways from where you are (SE Arizona). If you ever head out this way, drop me a note.

My dad was my lifelong hunting buddy, but he passed three years ago. It hasn't been the same since. I have other hunting buddies, but life seems to keep them pre-occupied of late. It's hard to find new people to hunt with these days, it seems.

Hopefully someone a bit closer to you will be along to help you out.

Good luck!

Daryl

Thank you for your sacrifice for freedom.

Im just south of Minneapolis, but I would hunt with you also. We could tell lots of war stories because I have a limp too, mine wasnt caused by combat but rather too much running for the army and too many road marches.

I retired from the army in 2007 and I served all over the world including Afganistan. I have commitments that restrict my deer hunting pretty much to the weekends but I would certainly re-arrange my life for a week to be able to get three or four good days hunting with you.

Theres lots of good people on this forum so you will probably find offers closer to home but my offer stands.

Steve I sent you a private email, being new to this forum Im not sure if you know how to find it or not. It is available in the upper right hand corner of your screen under where it says welcome and your name.

Im sure you'll find some one closer but heck it would still be fun.

UFFDA!

Steve--Another inadequate Thank You For Your Service!

If you'd like to bowhunt in WI, google UFFDA and check them out. They have a hunt for disabled archers in Rhinelander, WI, in October, to which I think you'd be very welcome.

All you have to do is get there w/yr bow or crossbow, license, and personal equipment/supplies. The 3 day hunt is all set up and furnished, and based at a Boy Scout camp.

I can tell you from experience, that the hunting is good, and in the lodge, the B. S. flows nonstop, and no one is exempt from the heckling.

Check 'em out.

Steve, I also want to thank you for your service and sacrifice. I am in Muskegon and would help you any way I could.

If you are ever in Nevada, it's a long way for you but you never know, drop me a line or send me a message, lots of good spots for all types of critters from groundhogs, to elk.. If you draw a tag... Anyway thank you for your service to our country... It would be an honor to hunt along side you.

If you come to this side of the world, please contact me

Hi Steve,
I live in South Africa.
If you ever feel like coming to hunt in this side of the world, let me know and I'll organize a hunt.

Brgds,

Danny

If you are EVER close to Long Island, NY then you let me know and I will take you duck / goose hunting!!

Thank you for your service with all of my heart, and God Bless!

Come to Iowa and you can hunt with us, my nephew should be back from Afgan by pheas season (I hope), he also did time in Iraq. If you dont mind an old guy tagging along :) I do have some "secret" spots that hold a few birds,. Deer and turkeys we have very close to home, right out the back door in fact :) we eat good at night after the hunt too.

Glad you made it home, hope you gave better than you got, and now a hearty salute to you for your service. (did you hear it)? :)

My humble thanks for your services/sacrifices.

I'm a bit closer to you in S.E.Ohio. Getting around here in these hills may be a challenge but with the golf cart or quad I think we could manage;).

I'd be honored.

Please P.M. me if interested.

My hunting club is putting on a "disabled vet" hunt in October. Knox County Ohio. No idea how far that is from your location. ODNR is going to give us special permits to use shotguns during bow season. Might be a good opportunity to meet some other people.
This is the first year we are doing it so numbers will be limited. Hopefully we can expand out to about 20 later. The decision was made that we would not do wheel chairs the first year, but it sounds like that won't be a problem in your case. I am not sure how many as I am involved in preparing the grounds not the other aspects of the hunt. For all I know the vets are already arranged.

If you are interested send me a PM with contact info and I will forward to those organizing the hunters and see what is going on.

Have you checked your local Sportsmans clubs?

I'm also a Vet. We often archery hunt at Aberdeen Proving Grounds (US ARMY) within Maryland. You're welcome to join us. It's a bureaucratic nightmare to get into this great hunting land. But if you're interested, let me know and I can help you get started with the paperwork.

Crossbows are legal in Maryland for ALL this upcoming season. Muzzle-loaders are legal on base during shotgun deer season. Many Vets prefer modern muzzle-loader rifles because less recoil and better accuracy.

Jack
