Very rare Mann 7.65 pistol - looking

Hello, I'm looking for any owner of a Mann 7.65 pistol. It's scarce and it's not possible to find a exploded diagram of it, not mentioning buying spare parts for it. Here's how this Mann looks like:
540x360.jpg

I have ths gun but it's missing a trigger/sear/magazine catch spring. It should be similar to a 1911 spring just smaller and shaped differently - made of steel sheet and having few "fingers".

I will make it on my own from sheet of springy steel, just need to know how it should look.

I will be very thankful if someone could help me.

These are very rare little guns. I have seen two in my lifetime.
I doubt you will find any of the information you seek, so you will probably have to figure it out yourself.
Good luck!

Yes, possibly map out the requirements from the gun itself. Spring steel shim stock is cheap so any loss from failure is minimal, not right? do it again until you get it.

Other than a general appearance there is NO resemblance between the 7.65mm Mann and anything else. Period.

Good luck making one of those springs. Do you have any part of it at all?

I will post pictures with dimensions as best I can measure, but the thing has four prongs, with odd twists and turns. Some time back, when I got one, I took it apart, and spent the better part of a week getting the parts back in the right way. Now that I have it apart again, I may be in for more such "productive" time. I usually have no problem reassembling a gun but a couple have been bears, and the Mann 7.65 is one. (The Campo-Giro is another.)

Let me know if you have any parts or any part of the spring.

Jim

I have heard nothing more from the OP, so I am going to post pics of the spring that seems to be missing, then Put the gun back together.

I will send two messages of 3 pictures, each, then one with 1 picture.

Jim

There is a picture of this pistol field stripped in Mathews Firearms Identification, Volume III, but no detailed parts breakdown. You can see where the spring shown in Jim K's posts engage on something, but it's not close enough to tell what.

James that shouldn't be that hard to make.
Just get out your trusty 3D printer and pop them out in seconds. And while your at it make me a hammer for an 1856 Burnsides.

Wow!
Never saw one of those! I've fabricated a few odd ducks in my time, but I do believe that would be above my pay grade. Best of luck reassembling it.....

Gyvel,

The two points on the bottom engage in the frame. The two outer limbs of the spring engage on the internal magazine catch, which is activated by moving the "switch" to the "Mag" position. Of the other two limbs, the one to the left (as the gun is pointed) activates the sear; the other activates the trigger bar.

I'll be honest and admit that if I had known how difficult reassembly would be, I would not have replied to the OP.

My very strong advice is that those pistols not be messed with or taken apart; they look simple, but are incredibly difficult to work on (and I think I can say without undue modesty that I am not an amateur at firearms dis-/re-assembly). If you are a gunsmith and someone comes in with a paper bag and says, "I have this little .32 Mann pistol that is taken all apart...." Just run. Don't let him finish. Don't lock the door or leave a forwarding address. Just run.

BTW, the .25 Mann is not much better. Same advice.

Jim

LOL, Jim. The photos in Mathews only show a side view of the frame with the grips removed and the slide off. I can see where the two limbs of the spring engage on something, but you can't tell what.

I think a close runner-up to that Mann is the Haenel-Schmeisser .25 auto.:D:D:D

Mann 7.65mm

I have one of these pistols. I also have an info sheet with field strip instructions and breakdown photo. Email me at rross@aceacoustics.net and I will send it to you. Also I can find no ammo to fit this pistol. The 32 auto 60gr shells I have are too long for the chamber, any advise?
