In recent handgun polls we have done and threads that have
been posted by us and others, this is what we have found.
It is obviously not a professional statistical sampling but,
interesting none the less.....Some surprising & some not.
These are NOT absolutes by any means, so please keep that
in mind.
NOTE:
( Based only on those that replied or voted obviously NOT the
entire memberships, so please also keep that in mind, just
some observations so to speak from the various threads.
These should not be construed as any recommendations. )
1) Over 84% to date of our memberships prefered iron type
sights over that of lasers or optics on their handguns.
2) Well over 95% of our memberships suggest "NOT" using
any type of shotshell for a first in line self defensive round
in their handgun.
3) Almost 70 % of our memberships prefer the 9mm,357mag,
& 45acp as their favorite handgun ammo of choice.
4) Handgun ammo selection polls suggest that our memberships
prefer autos for SD, although it's close and the auto vs. revolver
debate continues.....
5) An overwelming majority of our memberships are concerned
over the legalities of using their CCW handgun in a SD situation.
Even if it is to save their life.....
6) Am overwelming majority of our memberships showed that
they much enjoyed shooting with their respective spouse or
family members the most.
7) The majority of our memberships have at least 1 handgun
the admir so much, they would never sell it. Further, they mostly
buy handguns they like for their enjoyment etc and appreciating
values are not their main goal as an investment tool.
8) A vast majority of our membership practices with their handguns
on a regular basis although they would like to be able to practice more.
9) Our memberships don't necessarily care of the country of manufactured
origin when purchasing a handgun, but are concerned about current quality
control, function ,and buying what they like.
10) Handgun threads started by a woman get many responses-No Surprise there-lol !
11) Our memberships clean, take care,& shoot their guns often-Most will
clean shortly after being used or fired but, some also have their safe queens
that never get fired.
12) Our memberships show CCW increasing in numbers.
13) Most of our membership practice their handguns from short distances.
15,21,25,45 feet being the various averages.
14) Almost all of our CCW memberships do NOT display their weapons openly
and also are concerned with printing. While some feel naked without their
handgun some still feel exposed, even if not.
15) Most memberships prefer to CCW various JHP type defensive rounds
over that of ball and lead. Most are concerned of over penetrations in
a life threatning defensive situation.
16) Many of our memberships are concerned with ever increasing prices
of ammo versus the cost of their guns-Interest in reloading is increasing.
17) In a SD situation most of our memberships believe that the number of
rounds their handgun holds is not most important as they believe it would
be over anyway within 2 or 3 rounds. This would suggest that large capacity
is not as much of a concern as the actual caliber being used in conjunction
with ammo choices polls & threads.
