YES! I'll be flying down the info superhighway, downloading those TFL pages and those, errr, uhhmm, well, just TFL pages, yeah, that's it, like nobody's business starting next Tuesday evening!! :)

Close this as off-topic if you must, but I thought it relevant to getting/using TFL, the gun forum, so....

:) Have had one for 3 years.

:| You still need to go through points B C and D to get to your final URL, and the intermediates can be pretty slow.

:( The provider is anti.<---Gun content.

Oh well, can't have everything. It does point out though how the hidden side of gun control can seep into everyday life. Seems like everywhere you spend a buck these days, a portion of it goes to support something you despise.

I had a cable modem, then found DSL.

I haven't looked back. Hey, at least you aren't surfing at 28.8? Right?

Mike

I just got DSL this weekend after surfing with 56k dialup for years. High-speed, always-on access is a great thing. I picked DSL because the bandwidth is not shared with every Napster jockey in the neighborhood sitting on the same network loop like with cable. Still, cable modems beat analog modems by a mile. Got rid of the second phone line and the old ISP and saved $60 per month...DSL here is only $49.95. Ten bucks less per month for a much better connection...life is good in the fast lane.

Yup. I've been on DSL for a month now. Going home to a 56k connection is horrid. Here, my pages load in about 2 seconds. Home, it takes 15 or more.

It's great to have a fat pipe. Enjoy it.

I had already decided that as soon as I bought my house, I'd go to cable modem. Imagine my dismay when the installers came in and looked at my computer like they were seeing the ghost of PCs past.

"So what you're saying is my computer is out of date?"

"Uh, no, sorry!" They stammered. "Really! We've seen computers like that, in the training films."

Turns out it was too slow and had not enough memory to accept the cable hookup. And, while I was waiting for my upgrades to arrive, its 56k modem got zapped in a thunderstorm. Grrrrr! So, while I wait, and it will be at least another week, I am on my old 28k modem laptop. I am trying to be grateful; not everyone *has* a "backup computer." But it's really putting a crimp in my E-Bay....
