Very Disappointed with Ruger SR-22

Last weekend I bought a Ruger SR-22 for $452.00 + Gov't slush fund.

From a distance this rifle looks cool, up close and personal, all it is, is a Ruger 10/22 with tricked out parts and accessories. It shot like a typical Ruger standard 10/22. Plus it had numerous eject stove pipes no matter what ammo I used.

I should have held out for the Colt AR .22lr or just bought a dedicated .22lr upper for my M4.

I cannot believe I paid this much for so little value of a rifle. Taking it to the Gun Show this weekend and selling it, I am sure some fool will pay over retail for it with all the hype about this rifle.

I believe I will turn the money around to a dedicated .22lr upper in A2 config.

Sorry about the gripe folks but I was truly disappointed in this rifle for all the cost and hype.

I really like Rugers and the 10/22. However, this one did nothing for me. It's simply a tricked out 10/22.

Sorry yours didn't work out. However, complaining about it simply being a tricked out 10/22 is stating the obvious. That is what it is.

Hope you have good luck moving it.

I would strongly suggest the S&W .22 AR. It is the way I went and I'm very happy with it.

I have both the Colt and the S&W 22 AR's. The Smith is a much better gun. My Colt is OK and runs well but the Smith controls are identical to the centerfire AR. They can also be found cheaper than what the dedicated upper for your AR would cost you.

A 10/22 will do everything a S&W 15-22 will do for a lot less money. The only reason I see for having a 15-22 is to practice with, instead of a S&W M&P. I guess that I just don't get it. It seems like a lot of wasted money for nothing.

You're a real stand up guy! Overchargin' for a gun that sucks. Why don't you knock 25% off of retail?

wait, what? You're telling me you bought it without realizing it was 'just a 10-22' not that a 10-22 is bad, just c'mon doesn't take a lot of looking or thinking to see that you are paying for tactical look not extra performance, Don't blame Ruger man. . . :barf:

Did you try different mags. My 10/22 works better with Steel Lip mags.

I bought the Sig 522 for $400 and it eats everything so far. My second choice was the Smith 22.

Maybe you should clean it and shoot it some more and give it time to break in. Maybe you should do more research and not impulse buy and less people will get screwed at gun show's..

This is exactly why I don't go to gun shows.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but are the new 10/22's and their variants that bad. I have a 10-22 stainless with skeleton synthentic stalk thats about 10 years old. I swear I have only cleaned it once and put at least 1000 shells through it and it has not even given a hiccup. Zero stovepipes, misfires or ejection issues whatsoever. With a 25 shot bannana it will shoot as fast as your finger will pull the trigger.

i have newer 10 22 that is just a year old. i have shot probably 4000 rounds through it in the last year, and cleaned every 4 months probably, with this it shoots every time. even feeds from those crappy plastic 50 round banana clips. and thats with the cheapest ammo i can find.

My 10/22 is new (bought it a year ago), and hasn't given me any problems, except with one particular magazine. I've marked that one, so I know to expect stove pipes with it.

The mag you use makes a big difference. A crappy mag will give you all kinds of problems; with a good one, the gun should run flawlessly.

Underneath all that extremely HEAVY garbage it is still a 10/22 which we all know and love.

They dont make them like they used to.

Considering most folks who buy the 10/22 spend more than that on aftermarket crap, what are you complaining about? The 10/22 is a cheap, price point gun that doesn't have the accuracy, reliability or handling of better guns - which is why everyone sticks all that crap on one.

Selling it above retail at a gun show to "some fool" is not very honorable - may your action come back upon you then - you give honest gun owners a bad name.......:barf::mad:
