:mad:About 2 years ago I bought a timney trigger for my savage 12 22-250. I'm just getting around to installing it now and have a whole mess of problems. First problem is it fires with safety on. If you close the bolt with the gun at an odd angle the bolt will slam shut causing a round to go off if one is chambered. Next the pull weight varies on it and so does the creep. sometimes its nice n crisp with no creep other times its complete 180.

Thought I was getting quality but apparently not. I did some research on the interweb here and it seems a lot of folks have issues with triggers. Looks to me like quality control is non existent over at timney. Everyone I've talked to told me to throw it out the window and buy a jewell.

Nice first post eh. Normally im a happy camper but this trigger has me tweaked

That trigger should be adjustable for weight, creep and overtravel. Have you tried adjusting it?

BTW, we disassemble and stone them before doing all that stuff. Timney hates us because of it.

Yea I should of been more specific I've spent hours toying with those 3 and no results. no matter what it will fire with the safety on. The trigger is everything but consistent

This is my 3rd trigger I've done. I have shot the gun quite a bit shes a tack driver. I don't dare shoot it until I get my trigger figured out. I Didn't shoot it for 2 years cause I was busy with other toys but ran a handful of 55gr ballistic tips and she shot fine. Since it was over 2 years ago and I don't have any idea where my receipt is will timney still fix it?

Lot of coyotes around my parts so I had to get the varmint gun out again. Sav 12 with 26in bull, 12 twist from the factory. I added a b/c tactical style stock and harris bi pod, can't wait to see what it does with new trigger

Timney's come with a lifetime warrenty. Might want to give them a chance.

Have you checked to see if there's any contact between the stock and trigger?

I'm just having a hard time imagining a bolt action rifle's bolt slamming forward because the rifle is at an odd angle, and the erratic trigger pull. You'd think it'd be one way or the other without it flipping a 180. The safety not working at all is also strange.

Did your rifle have an accutrigger? There are a couple different models of timney triggers for the savage 12, accutrigger or non accutrigger specific.

Regarding Jewel triggers and that they are the best. Not true any more. I have 2 old ones that are consistent on pull and no creep. My new trigger (purchased in 2011) is a nightmare. It has creep, it don't brake clean and I've sent iy back to Jewell and they returned it claiming nothing is wrong with it. Old Man Jewell isn't at the company any more, and the two sons who are running it are only interested in the bottom line.
They don't give a damn about the customer or the quality of the product! If you visit some of the other forums you will see others complaining about the same thing.

Before coming here to complain about a product it's only right to first contact the manufacturer and give them a chance to fix the problem.

After the OP has done that, he can come back and tell us how things went.
