Versa-pod vs. Harris

Hello all, in case you're in the market for a Versa-pod, they're on sale at http://www.natchezss.com for $51.

I'm considering buying either the Versa-pod or the Harris swivel BR model for my Remington 700 VS. The trick is the Harris is $82 in the swivel model. Since I'm not planning on humping the rifle through the boonies, I'm not worried about the weight of the Versa-pod. Then I think to myself: "if I'm shooting off the ground or tables anyway, why use a bipod at all when a sandbag/pack will do?" Does anyone have any thoughts on the issue? Thanks.

Harris bipods are field proven. . .

The versapod legs have too much flex in them. For casual shooting, they're not bad, but for field use, I would opt for the Harris BRS any day.

I think the Harris is better constructed. The Versa Pod I had was too loose, too much movement. Felt cheap and looked it.
The Harris I have is a swivel model. The swivel has not bothered me much in shooting.

I've never worked with a Versa-pod as the only bi-pod I have is a Parker-Hale (which the versa-pod is a copy of).

Sniper Country has a review of the versa-pod. Follow the link and click on the bi-pod link on that page.

Spend the extra few $ and get the Harris.

(Or, if you absolutely must throw money away, buy my slightly used Versa Pod...and then get the Harris.)
