Verifying a C&R FFL License

The BATF web site does not allow you to verify C&R FFLs through its EZ-Check. I am selling a 50+ year old pistol, so I know it qualifies as C&R (after reading the BATF website). My buyer has a C&R license and I want to do my due diligence by checking it. How do I go about this? Thanks.

I've never bothered to, or felt I was required to, do more than ensure that prior to actually completing the transaction I have a hard copy of the individual's 03 FFL, with original signature, and that the information on it (name, address, etc.) and of course the expiration date, are all OK. If there's anything more than that expected of me I don't know what it would be. I'll be interested to see if other C&R types are typically doing more.

Just get a copy, IMO. It's not your job to make sure his license is valid. Unless it LOOKS forged or altered then I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. This being New Jersey, I will be making the call to the ATF in North Jersey.
