W warwagon New member Dec 31, 2005 #2 vented Not realy, gives a flat sight plane, supposedly dissapates heat from rapid fire.It's a matter of taste, either you like the looks , or not. Doean't have a real purpose in a combat weapon, other than cosmetics. Happy new year! Blair

M Majic New member Dec 31, 2005 #3 Just another style that you either like or dislike. It does redirect heat waves off the top of the barrel, but that seldom bothers a handgun shooter.
