vang large safety

I just finished putting one on my 870 express(bye bye j lock).It was very easy to put on and for some reason I have never removed my trigger group.I should have much sooner because it was very dirty and had alot of shell packing from leaking shells gunking things up.I didnt have to change the sprind and plunger to the older style.the stock plunger and spring worked just fine.My concern is that it is almost too big.Very easy to take off safety and you just about have to in order to pull the trigger.with it off I can feel it on my finger a little more then I like.anybody notice this and did you get used to it or try something else.also I forgot to paint the strip red to show when the safety is off.I dont want to take the whole thing apart to paint it so I was thinking of using a tooth pick and some of my girlfriends red nail polish.I worry more that a friend shooting the gun not seeing red will think its on safe.I doubt it would be a problem for me.

I do not do Big Safeties.

Vang is good to turn down to replicate the bone stock Original safety 870s had, to replace the J Hook, if one cannot find a replacement 870 original safety.

Kalifornist, you may want to read the Knoxx manual. That is if you have that stock mounted,or plan to put one on your shotgun. They do not recommend using oversized safeties. They are hazardous to your hand if used with the Knoxx stock.

I believe that knoxx is refering to the stock that has the folding wire over the top.

with the stock folded I can see how that would cause a problem.

thats the stock I plan on getting some day.doesn't look like the enlarged saftey will be a problem

The receiver of the shot gun slides backward on all their designs. Similar to an auto pistol's slide. The problem is that it will shear the safety off the shotgun. Look closer, you will see what I mean. Take note of the gap at the back of the receiver and stock, it moves there as well. It isn't just the butt stock that compresses.
