Value on a Chicago "Protector" Palm Squeezer?

Uncle just passed on and we found what appears to be a Chicago Firearms palm squeezer "Protector"""

Six shell revolver palm size ....Round..fits in palm...says Aug of 93(1893)....Nickel plated with what...rubber inlay/gripss...

It is basically mint condition. The one book I have says the value is about $1100 in Vgood condition...but doesn't even address value for better conditions.....Is this highly collectable?

Anyone have any thought??

It's not on the "safety list" so a dealer can't buy it and then sell it in-state. But other than that, no sweat.

I have no idea the value. I think I read somewhere that the caliber matters a lot, they were made in .22, .32 and maybe others.

You may have a VERY valuable gun there. Don't get an appraisal from a guy who offers to buy it at the same time.

Sheaman, it is estimated that about 12,800 Protector Palm Pistols were made during the 1890's. These were all chambered in .32 Extra Short or '.32 Protector' rimfire caliber. The nickel finish was standard with the blued finish actually being optional as well as commanding a nice premium of about 50%. Those with pearl or ivory grip plates will also add a premium to the overall value of about 20%. To give you an idea of possible value a Chicago Firearms Co. Protector Palm Pistol in excellent condition with the nickel finish and pearl grips sold at auction in August 1999 for $1,725. Hope this helps!

Hang on there Sheaman... I'm driving down to San Josey pick it up so you don't get into trouble. ;)

More seriously though, my condolences on the passing of your uncle and enjoy your new toy.

Someone gots to have a picture!

Saw one of these sweet things at a gunshow--real show stopper. Can't really do it justice via text. Bet there is a real story here also. Anyone confirm that it was a gamblers gun?
