value of winchester 96 30-30

I saw a nice, "brand new" (from 1970's) winchester 96 lever 30-30 for sale. What is a reasonable price for one of these? The guy was asking 250. Thanks.
 
Do you mean '94?

I think Winchester has made just about everything except a "96." I think $250 may be a bit high for a '94 in .30/30 unless it's in mint condition.
 
Sleeping Dog, a Winchester Model 96 would be an O/U shotgun that was made from 1976-1982. I'd have to agree with Cosmoline, you were probably refering to a Model 94. At $250, that vintage of a Model 94 should be in near 100% condition.

Cosmo, you may be right about the number 94. I hate it when my short-term memory goes like that. The thing appeared to be mint, no rubbing marks on any of the loading mechanism gizmos inside it. Muzzle appeared untouched. The guy claimed it was shot less than 10 rounds and I don't doubt it, based on appearance of the things that move when the lever is worked.

It's starting to sound like a fair, ok deal, but not a huge bargain.
