I have a S&W 38 Special Model 67. It was purchased in 1984. It has been fired less than 100 times. It was packed away until this year. The gun is in superb condition. I believe the grips are made of walnut and have no marks of any kind. It is a satin stainless with target sights, etc. I would like to get a smaller handgun for my wife and I to use as a personal protection gun in the home. The gun looks like it was manufactured a week ago. What can I ask on GunBroker.com?

I would be looking to get $300-350 out of it but might have a hard time. There are LOTS of these guns out there and most people want a 357 so the 67 isn't a hot seller.

If you have the original box and all of the stuff that came in the box with the gun it will help it sell, if you have that stuff be sure to put pictures of it up and list it in the text.

For home protection a 4 inch barrel makes a dandy choice. Easier to shoot and control. The .38 Special cartridge has plenty of power for the job. Plus the Model 67 is usually very accurate (it's just a SS version of a short barreled Masterpiece).
Consider keeping what you already have as the smaller revolvers are designed for carrying, harder to shoot accurately, recoils more with the same ammo, and you will lose your sixth shot (unless you get a Colt or smaller caliber) that you already have. You really already have a great home protection revolver.

Majic -- Thank you.

After posting my question on the site, I had a chance to ask a couple of people the same question I had posted. They stated, basically what you stated. I will be keeping the model 67. It is in mint condition and as you stated, it will do the job I need it to do.
Thank you, you got me off the fence with great advice. :)
