I have recently acquired this Remington double barrel shotgun. I believe I have accurately identified it as a model 1889, 16 gauge. It also has the engraved barrel and is marked with a "3" which I assume means a grade 3. This gun is what I would consider to be in good condition. Does anyone have knowledge of this shotgun and if so what is the approximate value of it?

The 1889 Remington is...

the second last of the external hammer shotguns, the 1890 was final production, then the 1894 & 1900 were the hammerless.
Find a Dixie gunworks catalog, they have a old line engraving showing the "sweep" of the hammers, for ID.

It is a damascus barrel so need s good inspection to see if MIGHT be fireable.

(Lot of opinion on this You decide as the inspection)

go to www.16gauge.com site for additional source of damascus barrel info, search be required.
