Value of original Colt 1851 Navy

I just chanced upon an classified ad online of an original Colt 1851 Navy revolver. Based on the serial number and the serial number lookup at http://proofhouse.com/colt/, this revolver was made in 1862, the second year of the Civil War. The pictures show a revolver in pretty good condition. What is the value of such a revolver? Here are the pics from the ad:

Colt model 1851 Navy 4th model large brass trigger guard serial range 85,000 to 215,348 $1,00.00 at 10% condition up to $7,500.00.
If Martially Marked U.S. Navy $2,500.00 to $22,500.00 for 10% up condition

Despite the lack of details & photos it looks like a good deal.
It's quite possible that it's being offered at a wholesale price or below. :)

Not my pictures so I can't do much about that. Oops! Somehow the second set of pictures uploaded as thumbnails. I guess I grabbed the wrong pictures then. I grabbed the bigger ones this time and reuploaded them.

This pistol sure is tempting me. I don't see any martial markings in these poor pictures but it is tempting to check it out. I wonder if the wife would appreciate it as an anniversary present. ;)

I'd be very careful if I was you. A deal that sounds too good to be true usually is too good to be true. From the crappy photos supplied, you can not tell much, but it seems in too good a shape to be an original for only $850. I would be skeptical that it was a defarbed and antiqued repro being passed off as an original. JMHO

For the gravity of the situation (i.e. is it real or Memorex?), I think I'd ask Rooster Cogburn to take his eye patch off and shoot some more pics.....but that's jess me.

It wasn't so far away I could have gone and taken a good look at it but somebody has already bought it. I was probably just wishin' anyway.
