I posted this question once before. maybe some new people are on the board now. I purchased a Colt Python Hunter cased set. this was produced only 1n 1981. It has a 8" barrel and is in new, unfired condition. The gun wears a pair of scrimshaw grips. The set includes 2 other grips, a 2X Leupod scope that has both the Colt logo and the Leupold name, and miscellaneous other items. The whole deal is housed in a Zero-Halliburton aluminum case. Does anybody know anything about this set? How many were produced? etc., etc. Thank you, TWOINCHGROUP52.

I can't tell you how many were produced, just that it was made for one year. I am surprised by the number that are unfired, I guess many people bought them as a collectaable. I saw one sell at an auction in 1985 for $600. Today the retail price is around $1200, though I have never seen one bring that much. A dealers buy price should be in the $750-$850 range and a sell in the $1000 - $1100. These prices according to the Blue Book of Gun Values.
