Have been looking at this gun, looks in new condition, got any idea as to the value. Your help greatly appreciated. 627-4 stainless v-comp 5 inch barrell-S & W performance center gun in 38 super.

V-Comp never came in .38 Super. Only in .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum and 45 ACP. Thirty-eight Super came in a variation called Super 8

Both guns dealer new for $770 and had a retail of about $850.

Used is all going to depend on how used, serial number, papers, hard case and original cardboard box w/end label. Could sell anywhere from $700 to $950.

U-GO-LY!!

if your gonna drop the $$$, Dan Wesson has the compensated revolvers to be checking out!

here is a shot of the 4" .44Mag:

The comp/expansion chamber is contained in the shroud which adds a bit over 1 1/2 inches to the actuall barrel length.

I've got the .357 with a fixed 6' and the .44 with a 6' barrel for showing off and 4' (as pictured) for a way-out in the woods ................ and they are the worth every penny. I have had the lower lug(s) chamfered to make life easier on the holster. Having a machinist cut on these babys was no big deal as they will never be for sale!

bosco,

Maybe my ears are messed up, but I could swear you just said "Those Performance Center guns are too ugly! Get a Dan Wesson instead".

Nothing against DWs, man, as they're fine sixguns and I've owned a few, but folks don't usually consider 'em beauty queens, if'n you know what I mean... ;)

thanks villian

Yea thats the gun, the super 8, ive never had any of these large frame revolvers before, but this one caught my eye, the action was smooth as butter, and it looks brand new, the case and the usual associated goodies are with it, the gun shop wants 590.00 for it, I was a little put off by the 38 super, would have preferred reg 38, but this is new to me. I would guess that the super is a pretty potent cartridge. What u guys think, is this a pretty good deal, dont have the serial # as yet, model # 627-4. Thanks for everything, ive been pretty much a mouse gun man for a while, and I have some Sigs, but this revolver stuff is new to me.

ok you talked me into it

I talked to the guy on the phone today, couldnt get by there, im gonna drop by tomorrow and buy the gun. This will be my first large frame revolver, have some Sigs and several mouse guns, that i really like and carry every day. I really dont know why I want this gun, but the action was just so dam smooth, and it felt good, I thought I might give it a try. Really not sure about this 38 super cal. but well see how it works out.

I would never try to dissuade someone from buying a V-Comp PC gun. Heck, I am even considering buying a used one myself right now. And I think they sell themselves based on aesthetics alone. But, my only concern would be buying ammo. Everyone I know of that shoots 38 Super reloads for that cartridge. In fact, I have never seen 38 Super sold (of course, I wasn't looking for it either).

Is that a Ti cylinder on that thing? If so, wow! Combine the short throw of an 8-shot cyl with the low mass of an 8-shot Ti cylinder and the DA pull must be phenomenal...

got it today

Fellas, thanks for all the help, I just dont think it gets any better than this. I picked up gun today, its new in the box with all papers with it, all still in the little baggies, not a mark on the gun or case, the cylinder doesnt even have a mark on it where its been indexed, and to make things even better, we settled on a final price of 575.oo out the door. The guy that originally had this gun, had two, just alike, but not consecative serials, he later found one that was one off from the other one he has, and got rid of this one, must be nice. Once again thanks for all the help, and your right, I think im hooked on these performance revolvers.
