Hey folks..leaving monday for a week vaca. in the NH/Northwoods,will not be in the wilderness, cabin on a river with pleanty of people around, will do a lot of walking, spending time on/wading in the river, visiting attractions and sitting by the fire, which carry piece is best suited to come along..S&W CS_45,S&W mod.36 3-inch,colt alloy snubby,or just a pocket pistol 'ala' kel-tec p-32 or seecamp 32, naa mini will be in pocket as last ditch also.
Thanks.. (45 or the 38's would be carried in a waist pack or thunderware)

pocketman; Relax and enjoy your vacation! You don't need a .45 to do that. I'm not a big fan of sub-38 calibre's so I'd take the Colt alloy snubbie. It's lightweight and reasonbly powerful. Stok it with some .38+P's and enjoy your vacation! Best Regards, J. Parker

You're away from home and away from the rest of your firearms, if it doesn't cramp your style (printing) and doesn't interfer with your planned activities, I would suggest the CS45.

Sounds similar to a question I asked myself, and what I came up with was this. Although I've always been a semi-auto man as a matter of personal preference, I realized that in the woods (not wilderness, just campground stuff) what I needed my CCW piece to do changed. In order of probability, you are most likely to encounter snakes, wild dogs, and as with anywhere else, the usual miscreants.

The best set up I've found in the "light woods", walking, hiking, fishing, etc... is one round of snake shot, and the rest, Remington Golden sabres. Since snake shot won't cycle a semi-auto, a .38 was my only choice.

I've been converted to such an extent, that my next plan for the deeper woods is a .44 special revolver.

So, in a nutshell, take the wheelgun. You are more likely to have to dissuade a no-legged bad guy than any other creature in the non-wilderness woods near a river.

For the times you're at the attractions, away from the woods entirely, take out the snake shot and slap in another +p.

Heck... take em both. Carry the revolver on your walks in the woods and around the river, and the CS45 on the town.

Just be safe

Thanks Folks, Onslaught you made some good points..I figure 75% of my time out of camp will be in town / at attractions so 3 - 2 looks like I'll take the CS-45.(I would take the 38 too,but I don't feal I could safely store it while out) Thanks Again..
