VA - Pro-guns to open carry in restaurants?!

As you've read in several threads, we in Virginia are working to return concealed carry to the restaurant world where it has been banned for several years. The House rejected it, but passed another bill to the Senate within which we hope to include the restaurant ban repeal. In trying to develop public (pro)interest, several suggestions were offered - the latest offered yesterday by "onoble1" seems to be simple, inexpensive and works since open carry is not banned (but few do it). It has already generated interest for one or more "visit(s)" this week. I pass this For Whatever The Value (FWTV):
Fellow RKBA supporters -
I hope this is the correct forum for this, but I just had an idea I think is worth disseminating for your thoughts and comments.
Since the bill to repeal the ban on concealed carry in restaurants was defeated, we are left once again with either leaving our handguns in our unattended vehicles, or carrying open in those establishments. I would suggest that we organize groups of twenty or thirty or forty or more of us to gather on scheduled evenings in select restaurants or bars - all of us in a big crowd carrying open since our right to carry concealed is denied. The areas we select to do this should be in districts represented by legislators who voted against repeal; if we garner press attention we can publicly point to that particular legislator as the reason for the necessity of our having to carry in that manner. I would think that the restaurants we chose would love to have crowds of us come in and order beverages (preferably non-alcoholic so this doesn't backfire) or snacks or meals...

I'm In...

IronBarr,
I sent a reply to onoble1, saying I would be glad to participate in any get together that is organized. I did have trouble with the email address you supplied. I think you need to finish it with a .net not a .ne. If you will edit your post other people will be able to reply. Thanks for posting such a great idea.

Yeah, I'm in -

I like to eat (and it shows) in nice places. I don't see why CWP holders hould be relegated to unhealthy/low quality/crummy fast food joints just because we're armed. I have no trouble abstaining form alochol when armed, it's just common sense. An extra dozen diners can make the differenct between a good night and a so-so night at a lot of restraunts, and as long as everyone preserves the decorum (iced tea all around!), it could be a powerful deomonstration/msg to both the pols and the restraunteurs. I've been monitoring the VA-RKBA mail list

all day. There's a lot pro and con traffic today. At this point I don't see a pure commitment to meet at any particular place at a time and day. There are some good nay comments about open carry. Like everything, 2 sides to the story.

If it solidifies into something firm, I'll send up a flare.
